As part of the Yorkshire Water "Miles of River Improved" project we added features to the stream which promote flow variation, cleaner gravels and habitat for invertebrates and fish.
These included "V" weirs, trees hinged into the margins and the replacement of an old weir with a new, natural log weir.
An area of riverbank which had previously meandered, was destroyed by weed cutting machinery in 2022. This was repaired by using green engineering. Live willow was weaved into a series of posts then backfilled with dredged materials which had been left on the bank and hazel bundles.
Finally, a natural coir mat was used to hold it all together whilst allowing vegetation to re-establish.
